The Technological Revolution
We’ve certainly come a long way since the first radios appeared in automobiles over 50 years ago. First we had analogue, then that expanded as more radio stations emerged. Then there was a device called the 8-track into which we could insert rather large cassettes, comprising the revolutionary magnetic tape; very large and unwieldy technology by today’s standards!
Clever ideas continued and technology brought us more compact products, and before long the 1970’s brought us the car radio cassette player. That was a wow because not only was technology continuing to play its part, but auto tuning, whilst ever popular, was getting more commonplace – this was influenced by the financial industry providing new ways to access to money, that have never before been witnessed, and this also meant that more available to an ever-younger market. So, the radio cassette became as much of a must-have accessory as tuned engines and body styling kits.
Radio cassettes in turn gave way to the digital revolution and manufacturers were beginning to offer their own branded equipment in to their ranges.
There’s still an aftermarket though, and modern equipment facilitates the blending of components, thus providing for running car mp3 players with many options of entertainment system.
Tidiness and Storage
An obvious advantage of the car mp3 player is that it is unobtrusive. You don’t need to be storing loads of CDs, tapes, or their cases and wallets. It’s not just the storage either; how much time had you used to spend digging out your favourite CD? That wasn’t too safe either! Now you can simple use digital search facilities – easy.
The capacity of these products is huge, so the amount of music – or dialogue – you can store, in comparison with the same amount of space that would be required for CDs is incomparable.
Connectivity and Speakers
With some makes of car mp3 players you can also listen to your favourite music though your car speakers, so thanks to transmitter technology, that’s a good option to consider.
Although the FM capabilities are good, some options may be rather less good than others, so do be careful what you buy. Look for critical reviews on sites such as Amazon.com and see what current owners have to say about the products they have purchased. You won’t get a better idea than from someone who’s already had the experience.
Price
Prices range from just under the $100 mark upwards, and you can pay over $500 depending on what your requirements are
